My kids concluded & I agree
God’s magic explains all
They came together
Asserting that prior to here
They were waiting for mummy & daddy
In God’s magic
When people die
Like Great uncle
They’ve gone intoGod’s magic
Even in the face of Corona
Remember, God’s magic.
This America
Alabama has just killed another
For killing
Put aside the cloud in the guilt
Don’t you wonder what kind of ‘God’
Is the ‘God’ of America
Who distributes mulligan for the rich & powerful
Despise forgiveness for others
Extol the moneychangers & gamblers of Wall Street
Speak in the tongues that demands
While blessing weapons and wars
Cares only for the unborn
In the politics of dominance
While sending the living to early grave
In droves
This America.

The dying of HOPE.

When Hope 93 died in Nigeria
I stopped voting
My brother passed before Hope died in the USA
We are emigrants for reasons you may not understand
These shores gave me hope
I voted again
But did Hope die again on the 12th December?
Tomorrow, I will see those hordes of homeless again
On the streets of Brighton
My note or coin cannot save them from the looming misery
I have put everything on Hope surviving on the 12th
And Hope died?
And to kill Hope they hung JC again and again
Employing all the dark arts of this age
History was turned on its head
They made a noose of racism and hung Hope
Having fought racism all his life
And that bleeds my heart
That hurts the most
Is it too much to ask?
That in the distribution of luck,
The poor get a fair shake?
That health is not commodified?
That at least the basics are free for all?
Is it too much to ask?
That we don’t destroy mother earth?
That the war in Yemen & all war stop?
That arm sales not be our staple diet?
That peace return to Palestine?
That we treat each other with dignity?
My JC that dwells in the spiritual realm
Sends solidarity to our JC that dwells in the temporal.
Our time will come.
